Meet Dan Valencia
Daniel Valencia is a professional goldsmith and jeweler with more than 40 years of experience in design, precious metalsmithing, and stone setting. His extensive portfolio includes original fine jewelry crafted in precious metals and gemstones. He started teaching in 2011 and incorporated JewelryClassDC in 2014.
“I want to give aspiring jewelry makers the incredible experience of transforming metal, along with the techniques and knowledge they need to bring their own design ideas to life,” Daniel explains.
“My studio and classes are built with this in mind: small class sizes, professional benches, complete tool sets, and the right materials—everything students need to produce professionally finished jewelry.”

Jack has long been drawn to jewelry and the art of metalsmithing. His professional journey began seven years ago when he started training under goldsmith Daniel Valencia, transforming a lifelong passion into a dedicated career. He teaches Metal I and Metal II, focusing on foundational techniques while guiding students into advanced fabrication methods. With a strong design sensibility and a background in software engineering, Jack’s current work centers on repoussé and chasing in silver and gold, blending traditional craftsmanship with precision, creativity, and a contemporary perspective.

Laura has been a goldsmith for more than a decade, bringing both skill and artistry to every piece she creates. Laura has been a member of JewelryClassDC since completing her extended studies in 2016. Laura has pursued her studies in metalsmithing and advanced gem setting at other major schools. With an extensive hands-on experience at the bench, she has developed a deep understanding of traditional metalsmithing techniques while embracing modern tools to enhance her craft.
Laura has helped in a large number of wedding band workshops, using gold, platinum and silver. Guiding couples as they design and create their own rings. Laura’s supportive approach and attention to detail help ensure that every participant has a meaningful, memorable experience. She documents all wedding band workshops with photos and videos. Laura’s combination of technical expertise and patience makes her an invaluable part of the JewelryClassDC team.
Oleg has always had a passion for jewelry and the art of jewelry making. His professional journey began five years ago when he started training under goldsmith Daniel Valencia, transforming a lifelong interest into a dedicated career. Today Oleg works full time as a professional goldsmith. He also teaches Metal I and Metal II, introducing core techniques and guiding students into advanced fabrication. With a natural eye for design and a strong technical background in CAD and 3D modeling, Oleg’s skills combine professional quality soldering techniques with cutting edge laser welding — utilizing creativity with precision. He brings a modern edge to traditional metalsmithing.
