Metal 1 Introduction to Jewelry Making

3 day Metal I intensive! Introduction to Jewelry Making

This exciting Three day class teaches proper jewelry making techniques for beginners. Students will learn the correct way to file, saw, form, forge, solder Sterling Silver as well as make a stone setting and set stones, in an intensive workshop held in our beautiful studio, each student will create a minimum of (4) pieces of Sterling jewelry seated at a professionally equipped bench.  Correct tool usage and bench set up are emphasized.

Workshop fee is 645.00  All materials are provided. Hours are 9:00 to 5:00. Class size is limited to 10. Students should provide for a packed lunch, 7/11 is below the studio for coffee and snacks. Street parking is plentiful, Stadium/Armory Metro is just 4 blocks away.

Metal II 3 day intensive

3 day Metal II Intensive!

Prerequisite: Metal I or comparable experience. Metals II has different projects each semester. This exciting 3 day class will be challenging and rewarding. Students have creative freedom in the execution of these projects. Explore further the techniques introduced in Metal I. Forging, fusing, hollow forms, and advanced stone setting are the focus. All Metal II students learn to flush set faceted stones. Practice  Develop and create your own ideas. Workshop Fee 645.00 (includes sterling and semi precious stones).  Class limited to 10 students. Students should provide for a packed lunch. 7/11 is below the studio for coffee and snacks. Street parking is plentiful. Stadium/Armory Metro is just 4 blocks away.

Introduction to Gold

Introduction to Gold!

Come learn the correct way to work with gold with Dan Valencia in our beautiful studio. All students will be provided with 14k yellow gold and 14k hard solder. You will love working with gold once you learn its secrets. Each soldering bench is professionally equipped with an oxy*propane torch, lighting and air filtration.

This 2 day class will highlight the differences between successfully soldering Sterling and Gold. Students will make a 14k ring with a 4mm bezel set faceted stone from an ingot. Smelting 14k from 24k, pouring of ingots will be demonstrated and explained in detail Metallurgy of Silver and Gold will be covered in detail.

Soldering like a professional

1 day Soldering Intensive.

Come learn how to solder with Daniel Valencia, he has taught hundreds of metalsmiths proper soldering techniques. In this one-day workshop you will learn how to solder sterling correctly and with confidence. Students will learn whys and hows of the professional way to protect their silver and learn multiple soldering styles including pick soldering. Proper torch safety, and layout will be shown. Although this is primarily a technique class each student will make a chain and earrings in Sterling by the end of the class. You’ll spend the day at your dedicated soldering bench, getting the reps you need!

Torch equipment setup/soldering supply inf0rmation will be gone over

All materials are included in the workshop fee.  Hours are 9:00 to 5:00.  Location is JewelryClassDC at 1502 Massachusetts Ave. SE Washington, DC. The workshop fee is $475. All materials are included.  Students should provide a packed lunch. Seven/eleven is on ground floor for snacks and coffee. Hours are 9:00 to 4:00. Class size is limited to (10).  Street parking is readily available and the Stadium/Armory Metro stop is 4 blocks away.
